The Department of Mathematics at Community College of Philadelphia looks for competent Mathematics instructors. A commitment to teaching the entire spectrum of courses offered, (from developmental level to sophomore level) is sought, as well as an interest in curriculum development. Thus the ideal candidate is equally comfortable teaching Elementary Algebra, Calculus, Discrete Mathematics, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, etc., and should be able to develop courses in these areas.
From time to time, Full Time, Part Time, and Visiting Lecturer positions open. To check whether there are positions available visit: Human Resources. Should an opening be available, candidates must send
- the Math Hiring Cover Sheet
- a current CV,
- unofficial copies of both graduate and undergraduate transcripts,
- three letters of recommendation
to the address given in the above link.
The official advertisement from Human Resources lists the minimum qualifications of a candidate, which are usually a Masters degree in Pure Mathematics. Successful past candidates have had at least six graduate courses in three of the following four general areas:
- Algebra/Logic,
- Analysis/Differential Equations,
- Geometry/Topology,
- Discrete Mathematics/Probability/Number Theory.

Successful candidates for Full Time and Visiting Lecturer positions undergo a rigorous interview process which includes answering questions about their teaching philosophy, willingness to participate in departmental committees, a mathematical examination, and a short teaching demonstration.
