MATH 251 (7 week) ONLINE “STATISTICS FOR SCIENCE” SYLLABUS

PROFESSOR:  DR. GRAMLICH                  EMAIL:  sgramlich@ccp.edu

WEBSITE: http://faculty.ccp.edu/faculty/sgramlich

ONLINE TEXT: The PearsonMyLab MyLab Access Code can be purchased at either PearsonMyLab.com ($136 as of Spring 2019) or the CCP Main bookstore (printed customized text with access code $190 as of Spring 2019). Only a PearsonMyLab access code is mandatory.  PearsonMyLab contains ALL assignments, videos, and the text online ("Elementary Statistics," 12th Edition by Mario F. Triola, Boston: Pearson/Addison-Wesley, ©2014) so a printed textbook is optional.

Login to Canvas CCP.Instructure.com for Discussion, Emails, and Class Notes.  Read your text, watch videos/animations, and do all graded Assignments (below) in PearsonMyLab.com by the due dates prescribed (given by me in class or in Canvas). Also, the Prospectus and Integrity Policy has useful information for achieving learning outcomes.

Grading: To calculate your final weighted average, add up the total # of points you've earned on all Assignments and divide by the total amount of possible points (points can be found in “Gradebook” in PearsonMyLab). Convert to a %. Verify score in the MyLab Gradebook.

Timeliness of doing assignments (as per the syllabus), reading the discussion posts, and performance on the Final Exam will be taken into account, especially in borderline and equivocal cases.  You must work on ALL assignments to complete the course. Otherwise, a letter grade will be dropped for missing assignments.

A >= 90%

80% <= B <= 89%

70% <= C <= 79%

60% <= D <= 69%

F <= 59%
