MATH 150 Introductory Data Analysis (SP2011-900) - MATH 150-900 - 2011 Spring

Instructor(s):
Stefen Gramlich

Meeting Times:

Welcome to Math 150- Introductory Data Analysis.

Course Compass ID:  <TBA>

There are no in class meetings for the course.  Webstudy will be used as the primary communication platform and for following the timeline for assignments. All correspondence (including announcements of Live Sessions) will take place in the Forum (tab on the right).

Assignments are all done online in CourseCompass.com as prescribed here in the timeline and completion of these assignments will serve as the basis for your grade.  Students are expected to login into Webstudy and CourseCompass each week. I will be checking email, forum posts, and your CourseCompass HOMEWORK progress throughout the week. Almost every week there is an assignment. The only graded assignments are under "Do Homework" and "Take a Test" in CourseCompass.  Anything else you do is just practice to get ready for the graded assignments. The assignment should ideally be started by the following Monday by 11pm.  Not starting an assignment is the same as missing a class and will be used for attendance reporting purposes. You can move ahead to the next assignment at anytime.  Also, you may reattempt any question (upto the maximum # of attempts) until the course end. Click here for more detailed directions on completing assignments in CourseCompass.

All 7 CourseCompass Assignments and Final Exam will be DUE by RRpm, DAY, MONTH, 20ZZ (NO EXCEPTIONS). Your assignment average will appear in GRADEBOOK (tab in the left margin of CourseCompass).

We will NOT cover every section in the text. Please only read and watch videos/animations pertaining to the sections mentioned in the Timeline and the Syllabus.

If you have problems with CourseCompass, contact their Customer Technical Support http://247pearsoned.custhelp.com or by phone at 1-800-677-6337, Monday through Friday 8AM to 8PM, Sunday 5PM to midnight, Eastern Time (US and Canada) . If you have other computer problems please contact your computer brand's Tech Support.

Helpful Resources: I have provided Class Notes and Power Point Slides for each week's session in Webstudy. Class Notes are meant to complement readings and contain definitions, concepts, formulas (in the format you would put them in a graphing calculator) and using technology instruction (StatCrunch and Excel). In addition, CourseCompass has Video instruction, Animated instruction, and worked out examples.

South Learning Lab in B2-36 (215-751-8480) has group and private tutoring. There is also Pearson Publishing online tutoring in CourseCompass.

Final Thoughts

#15   WEEK 15

There is an 10 question Final Exam worth 60 points. The Final Exam is already posted under "TAKE A TEST" in CourseCompass.com. You can take the Final as many times as you like. The Final will have a 2 HOUR (120 MINUTE) TIME LIMIT.  The only learning aids available for each question will be the Textbook and StatCrunch. Your best score on the Final Exam will count as your Final Exam score.  That way you will have unlimited attempts to improve you Final Exam score up to the course end.

All 7 CourseCompass assignments and Final Exam are DUE by RRpm, DAY, MONTH, 20ZZ (No Exceptions).

Your Final Average is calculated by dividing your total accumulated points by the total # of possible points (multiply by 100 to convert to %).

To view your Final Average, click GRADEBOOK on the left margin of CourseCompass. Then click "Show Overall Score" at the top.
