Child Abuse and Criminal History Forms
Criminal history checks criminal justice databases for prior arrests or convictions.
Child abuse history checks children and youth records such as Department of Human Services. (These are two separate background checks.)
If you are enrolled at the College in the Youth Work program, Behavioral Health and Human Services or any other program with a practicum or internship requirement, you must obtain these clearances before the College can send you to an agency that works with children. You are responsible for obtaining your two clearances and paying for them ($10 each as of 2005)
Frequently asked questions:
I have a criminal record, can I still work with children?
I lived out of state previously, is there anything special that I need to do?
I obtained clearances previously, are they still good?
How long does it take for clearance forms to come back from
For answers to these and other questions talk to Pete Watkins or the field placement coordinator.
If you already are an employee or volunteer at the agency then the College does not require you to get new clearances.
