WebStudy®: Getting Started

Students are expected to have their own internet capable computers at home.
Students are expected to have their own
working e-mail and internet provider.

* You will not be able to access your courses until the first day of class. *
The reason for this is to improve your chances of success. If you have not been gaining experience with the internet and computer applications in general by having your own computer and email, then you will have many obstacles to overcome even before you tackle the course content.

If you have enrolled in an online course that uses the WebStudy® platform, this information should help you get started. If class has already begun, you should contact your instructor immediately and check your instructor's webpage.

EXAMPLE

If you are officially on the roll, your initial login will usually be your first initial + last name + last four digits of you SSN. For example, if you are Johnny B. Goode and your SSN is 123-45-6789, then your initial Login Name and Password would both be jgoode6789. (Explanation: First initial= j; Last Name=goode; SSN digits=6789). Thus,

Username = jgoode6789 and Password = jgoode6789

IMPORTANT: If you changed your password the last time you were in WebStudy, then the above will not work. Your changed password is still in place. You are responsible for remembering your password if you change it. Also, see EXCEPTIONS below for some special cases. Jump to How To Access Your Class or scroll down.

IF YOU CANNOT LOGIN, you may not have a WebStudy account yet, or have been given access to the course if it is early or if you just registered yesterday. Webstudy accounts are created about one week before a course begins and updated about one week later. You cannot login until you have an account. Even if you have an account, you cannot access your course until it begins. Do not email saying that you have a login problem when the course doesn't begin for several weeks. You just clog things up and delay your access and everyone else's.

If your login does not work -- and it is less than one week before the course begins and you didn't just register --, contact the Director of Distance Education (<- click to send e-mail). Be sure to include your name, SSN, Course name, number and section and your instructor's name, if you know it. State the specific problem that you are having. Do not just say "I can't make it work" or something equally as cryptic, because you will just be asked to explain your problem, delaying getting the help that you need. The more specific you can be, the faster your problem can be solved. State what you did and what happened. NOTE: If you register at the last minute you will not have access until the day the course begins or maybe even later. You may not register after the course begins. No WebStudy accounts will be created if someone improperly registers you late. You need prior permission of the instructor and the Driector if Distance Education to be added once class has started.

—— EXCEPTIONS ——

NOTE: For hyphenated or suffixed last names, only use the first part. Also ignore suffixes like Jr., III, etc. in forming the username and password. So, that Mary Jones-Cavanaugh 123-45-6789, would have the login mjones6789. George Hamilton IV 987-65-4321 would be ghamilton4321

SPECIAL NOTE: If you used WebStudy at another school, we cannot assign the default usrname-password. A "1" or a "2" will be added on the endof the username. So if Mary Jones took a WebStudy course at Temple, we may have to use mjones67892. If that applies to you, try adding a "1" or a "2" to your login username. Still having a problem? Email Us.

Important: All Access and Password issues are handled by your CCP WebStudy Campus Administrator (Lilia Juele, Director of Distance Education). WebStudy® has no way to determine whether or not you are actually a student in a course.

Help

If you have difficulty logging in to WebStudy the first time, contact the Director of Distance Education via e-mail as described above.

After you are successfully logged in to WebStudy, you can get help in several ways. Which way you use depends on what problems you encounter. If the problem related to your course, such as how to submit an assignment or where to find something in the course, or you have a question concerning the course content, then contact your instructor.

If the problem is that something in WebStudy does not seem to be working properly, try these help resources in this order:
