Assignment #1: Good Art/Bad Art Choose two works of art from our textbook -- one that you like, and one that you don't like. Visit our class wiki, log in, and insert the images into the table on the Good Art or Bad Art page. Put your name below the images. Remember that the password to edit the wiki is the author of our textbook. This assignment is due before class on Friday, January 18. We will discuss your choices in class on Friday.
You will select a work of art that relates to the issues of censorship we have been discussing this week. Remember that the password to edit the wiki is the author of our textbook (with a capital "G!") Please put your name below the image. This assignment is due by 5pm on Thursday, February 14. We will discuss the works of art in class on Friday, February 15.
Assignment #4: Public Sculpture You are to experience the city by locating a public sculpture of your choice, taking a photo of the work of art, which you will post to the class wiki. The photo must include the work of art AND you! You will discuss the work of art that you chose in class during the week of April 7. Explain why you chose the work and how it works within its environment. If possible, ask some other people on the street what they think of the sculpture. You must post your photo to the wiki by 8pm on Sunday, April 6.
Assignment #5: Architecture Please choose a work of architecture in Philadelphia, take a photo of the building, and post it to the class wiki. The photo must include the building AND you! You will discuss the work of architecture that you chose in class during the week of April 21. Explain why you chose the work and with what construction method it was made. If possible, ask some other people on the street what they think of the building. You must post your photo to the wiki by 8pm on Sunday, April 20.
