Welcome to Math 171 Calculus 1 on the Web for Spring 2010!

The first step for taking this class is enrolling in Web Study. Once enrolled in Web Study you will find your assignments in the Timeline.

The second step is purchasing a copy of James Stewart's Calculus early transcendentals. A used edition will do. The book is available at the bookstore, although you may find it cheaper on line. Make sure not to buy the "essential" version.

The third step is enrolling in Cengage. To enroll in Cengage your course key is E-5KJDJEKBTGD3M Your work will be in Cengage. Cengage is where you will find your on line homework and weekly exams. If you have technical problems with Cengage you can call 1-888-281-2990 between 10 and 9 Monday through Friday

The links for Web Study and Cengage are to the left.

This is not a self-paced course. Homework due twice weekly: Tuesdays and Fridays by 8:00 p.m. Each week there is a 10 to 15 question Exam due Sunday by 8:00 p.m.

In order to accommodate some students' requests, there will be optional meeting timesthis semester, in room B2 - 43 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:10 to 11:05. I will be happy to either lecture or answer questions.

Expect to spend at least two hours a day reading the text and doing homework. Do not try to do everything at the last minute. Obviously self motivation is key.
