Course Description:

This course explains the methods and techniques to analyze current business systems and design alternative solutions using the latest   available computer hardware and software. The course will introduce you to a traditional systems analysis cycle from the preliminary analysis and design thru the implementation phase. To deliver this information this you in an on-line settings, the text we have selected will emphasize, a business rather than a technology perspective, the role and responsibilities of the systems analyst as well as the systems project manager rather than those of the programmer or business manager and the methods and principles of system development rather than the specific tools or toll-related skills of the field.

Course Progression:

 

The outline of the course follows the systems development life cycle.

Part 1: Foundations for systems development.

Part 2: Systems planning and selection.

 Part 3: Systems analysis.

Part 4 : Systems design.

Part 5 : Systems implementation.      

 

Please complete all written assignments and forum questions during the week that they are listed in the timeline. All late extensions must be approved in advance. 

 

 

 Evaluation: You are required to submit all assignments via the assignment page, these will count for 25% of your final grade. Failure to submit 2 assignments when they are due, may cause you to be dropped from the course.  Weekly assignments are due by Sunday 11:59P.M.

 The midterm and final exam  count for 75% of the final grade. The grades will be determined by the following:

90 Average or above = A grade

80 = 89 Average = B grade

70- 79 Average = C grade

60-69 Average = D grade

Below 60 = F grade

 

 

Attendance: Your attendance will be taken by the frequency and duration you log on to your web page. Students that do not log on for a two week period may be dropped from the course. The expectation is that you will log on to your page on a daily basis for updates and assignments.
