Course Syllabus
Student
Web Study Manual: Please go the timeline in web study, read the manual there is
information that will better prepare you to navigate through this course
successfully.
This course is for students
who wish to become proficient in the application of personal computers. The
course will consist of weekly readings from the text and working on problems
described in the timeline of your weekly assignments. Practice makes perfect .
The major topics that will
be covered will be the Windows operating systems, word processing applications
(word), spreadsheet applications (excel), and exploring the internet.
At the completion of this
course, you will be proficient at:
1.
A broad
range of computer skills and the ability to apply them within the functional
areas of an organization.
2.
To
understand and operate a microcomputer in the Microsoft windows environment.
3.
Exhibit a
thorough understanding of the application of personal computers in the
workplace, college and at home.
4.
Understand the
concepts of windows and its application with the software programs that they
support.
5.
Work as a
problem solver through the use of technology.
Failure to turn work in on
time will count as an absence, 2 absences and you may be dropped out of the
class. All tests are to be turned in on time, there will be NO make-ups unless arranged in advance.
All assignments are to be
turned in on time. There will be no exceptions to this policy. All work will be
turned in via web mail except where noted otherwise.
There will be 2 exams that
will be “hands on” taken from current readings and class assignments... The 2
exams will count for 80 % of the final grade.
Your forum participation
will count for 20% of your final grade.
To earn a grade of “A”, no
less than a 91 average on all work required
To earn a grade of “B”, no
less than an 80 average on all work required
To earn a grade of “C” no
less than a grade of 70 on all work required
To earn a grade of “D” no
less than a grade of 61 on all work submitted
