WebStudy     All Materials in this course can be found in Webstudy, the portal for internet courses. To access WebStudy, go to: www.ccp.whyy.org. You will need a user name and password. These consist of the first initial of your first name, followed by your last name, followed by the last four digits of your social security number. As an example: Joan Smith, social security number 123-45-6789 translates into a user name and password of jsmith6789. Once you get to Webstudy, click on the user name box and enter your user name; tab to the password box and reenter your user name; then click on “login”. This course has been divided into 14 sessions, each session addressing one chapter of the textbook. Not all sessions will be visible to you at a time. Throughout the semester, sessions will be opened and closed as necessary. The length of time allowed to complete a session will vary with the complexity of the material. Please see the semester calendar on my webpage to learn the exact amount of time you will be given.

Classroom          An online course is similar to a live class, except your not sitting in front of the instructor. You should plan your time to allow for regular class attendance, class preparation time, and study time. Throughout the course, you will be given the opportunity to participate in discussions through the WebStudy Forum, an area where students and instructors can discuss issues and respond to questions posed. In addition, you are welcome to have one on one discussions with me through AOL Instant Messenger. My AOL screen name is ShafferCFP.

Attendance         An online course is no different than a traditional classroom course in that it is critical that you keep up with the assignments. They can be found in the “Materials, “work2do” and “Examinations” areas of Web Study. Many times, these are only available during specific periods of time, and if you miss them the windows are not reopened. You are expected to log into Webstudy at least once a week. Should you be unable to log in it is your responsibility to   contact me. If you fail to log for two or more weeks without      an acceptable excuse you may be withdrawn from the class.
