Syllabus Changes Due to the SEPTA Strike for Math 151 Taught by Clark Loveridge at Community College of Philadelphia

Attendance is required at exams but I will drop the lowest 2 unit exams instead of dropping only one unit exam..  The next exam dates are November 15 and December 1.  The date of the final will be announced.  The final exam will not be dropped.

During the SEPTA strike absences on days when there is no exam are excused.  However if you miss class you must get the assignments by phone (215)751-8689 or by e-mail cloveridge@ccp.edu or via my web site at http://faculty.ccp.edu/FACULTY/cloveridge or from another student and turn them in by exam day.

Assigned November 8
Classwork.   A hotel wishes to serve a breakfast of oatmeal, milk, and orange juice.  The customers can't eat more than 5 cups of food.  Furthermore they don't want to eat more than 600 calories.  Each cup of oatmeal contains 100 calories.  Each cup of milk contains 150 calories.  Each cup of orange juice contains 100 calories.  Use the simplex method to find out how much of each food should be served in order to maximize profit if the profit is:
(a)  5 cents on each cup of oatmeal, 10 cents on each cup of milk, and 5 cents on each cup
of orange juice?
(b)  4 cents on each cup of oatmeal, 10 cents on each cup of milk, and 7 cents on each
