To prepare for the Final Exam
- review what we did in class
- go over the attached examples
- skim pages 327 through 339 paying particular attention to
the definitions and properties (usually in bold
print) on
pages 330, 331, 332, and 334
- do the activities from the text listed below
- and also go over the examples in the first four study guides
Activity 20-1 on pages 329 to 330.
Activity 20-2 on pages 330 to 331.
Activity 20-3 on pages 331 to 332.
Activity 20-4 on pages 333 to 334.
Activity 20-5 on pages 334 to 335.
Activity 20-7 on page 336.
Activity 20-8 on page 336.
Activity 20-9 on page 336.
Activity 20-10 on pages 336 to 337.
Activity 20-11 on page 337.
Activity 20-12 on page 337.
Activity 20-13 on page 338.
The text intentionally does not give answers to activities partly because
some of the activities can have more than one answer and partly because
the text uses the discovery method of teaching statistics. With the discovery
method students are guided in discovering statistical rules and formulas
for themselves. It would defeat the purpose to have students working the
problems backward from the answers. I have attached some possible answers
for your convenience in checking your work. For many of the problems there
is more than one possible answer. You will learn best if you try to do
the activities on your own first before looking at my answers. If you find
that you need to look at the answers frequently then I suggest that you
either redo the activities without looking at the answers or do some additional
activities for which I have not provided answers.
