The Finance curriculum leads to an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree. This curriculum provides a strong business background with special focus on financial analysis. Completion of this curriculum will prepare students for positions as branch bank manager, consumer loan office manager, analyst, statistical assistant in a securities office or other positions in the banking, security, investment and loan business.

Outcomes
Upon completion of the Finance curriculum, the student will
be able to:
1. Understand the conceptual
framework for why markets exist
2. Understand the role of federal regulation and financial institutions in the market
3. Consider and interpret risk in investments and examine the theory of portfolio construction and the efficient-markets theory
4. Communicate effectively with customers and other financial professionals orally and in writing
Program Entry Requirements:
The program is open to interested students, assuming space is available. However, new students are normally required
to take the College’s placement tests at their time of entry. Students
identified as needing developmental course work must satisfactorily complete
the appropriate English and mathematics courses as a part of their degree program.
Program of Study and Graduation Requirements:
A minimum of 62 credits and a grade point average of 2.0 are required for
graduation.

GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
All
General Education requirements are met through required courses (as indicated
above) except for the Writing Intensive requirement,
the Interpretive Studies requirement and American/Global Diversity requirement. Therefore,
in order to graduate, students in this program must choose one course that is
designated Writing Intensive, one course that is designated Interpretive, and one
course that is designated American/Global Diversity. The same course may be used to fulfill
