On Cottonby Judy Engle |

This exhibit consists of multiple image photographs and photo collages printed on cotton. In every case, I photocopied the images onto transfer paper and then heat pressed them onto the fabric. The expensive Minolta copier was so good you can see the edges of the photographic snippets that made up the original collages. There are two kinds of multiple-image pictures here. The ones with the sharper outlines (posters on a wall with picket fence and posters of Tabori with tree) were made by printing from a color negative and a black and white negative at the same time. The abstract one that looks at bit “celestial” – that’s according to Bernard Stehle—and the one of the house were made by using snippets of newspaper (with imagery on both sides) instead of film negatives. |
