Dear Prospective Nursing Applicant:

We are pleased to learn of your interest in our R.N. nursing program.  Please refer to the Community College of Philadelphia catalog or website www.ccp.edu for more information about the nursing program.

After enrolling at Community College of Philadelphia, you will be assigned a CST/nursing interest curriculum code.  The next step is to apply for admission to the nursing program.  Currently, the nursing program admits only one time each year in September.  You can apply at an application/information session offered by the College counselors on the Spring Garden campus beginning in early October (telephone 215-751-8169).  Applications to the nursing program  must be submitted by January 15.

The prerequisite courses for applying to the nursing program include:

1.      High school Biology or its equivalent (Biology 106 or 101)*

2.      High school Chemistry or its equivalent (Chemistry 110)*

3.      Two years of college preparatory high school math or its equivalent (Math 017) or placement into Math 118.*

*These courses must have been completed within the past ten (10) years with a grade of C or better or be completed by January 31.

Although we require a minimum college grade point average (GPA) of 2.75, admission to the nursing program is highly competitive and most successful applicants have a GPA that is higher than 2.75.  In addition, we require placement into college level English and Math courses, and Allied Health Test results.  Admission to the nursing program is also conditional pending receipt and evaluation of the following: criminal background check, child abuse clearance and physical examination.

I hope that this information has been helpful.  Best wishes for success in your studies.

Sincerely,
