The Department of Chemistry offers a
variety of courses to fulfill your science needs. ·
For
students who are liberal arts majors and need a lab-science course, we offer
a unique discovery-based course in which you experience concepts via hands-on
explorations in the lab and discussions in the classroom. This Inquiry
into Chemistry course (CHEM 105) is especially appropriate for students
in education-related programs. ·
For
students without a solid foundation course from high school, we offer a
two-semester sequence of General Chemistry (CHEM 101-102) or 1

nursing students often take this course and follow it with a semester of Introductory
Biochemistry (CHEM 118). ·
For
students with the appropriate preparation who are interested in any science
related program here or at a 4-year institution, we offer a two-semester
sequence of College Chemistry (CHEM 121-122). Those interested in
medicine, pharmacy and/or science degrees, need to follow this sequence with
two semesters of Organic Chemistry (CHEM 221-222). ·

addition, for students pursuing their degree in chemistry or intending to
work as a chemical technician in industry, we offer Analytical Chemistry
(CHEM 213), Instrumental Chemistry (CHEM 214), Chemical Literature
(CHEM 217), Environmental Chemistry (CHEM 207) and Physical
