The chemistry courses that is right for you depends on your background and on your future goals. For a brief overview of the department’s courses, click on Courses. If you are still unsure, you should check with the advisor for your curriculum at the College and/or a transfer advisor at the 4-year institution that you plan to attend.

Can I take a lecture without a lab? Or a lab without a lecture?

No, at the College, all chemistry courses are linked lecture and lab; the lab portion of the course does not carry independent credits.

Is lab safe if I’m pregnant?

The chemicals used the lab are most innocuous and strict safety procedures are followed in all experiments. If you feel uncomfortable working with a specific chemical, you can be paired with another student for that laboratory period.
