Chemistry Club The Student
Affiliate of the American Chemical Society (SAACS), also known on campus as
the Chemistry Club, is a College supported organization. The SAACS is the
College’s only science-related club and students in all disciplines are
encouraged to join. Professor Annamaria Fulep is the club’s academic advisor. The officers
of the club are elected annually by the membership. The club meets on campus
on a bi-monthly basis during the late afternoon; the date and time are
determined by the members and advertised by postings throughout the campus. There are no
dues and fundraising consists of bake-sales, safety goggle rentals, Chemistry
Week items for sale and other activities which the members recommend. The
highlight of the club’s activities is its annual trip to the ACS
Analytical Conference. The bi-monthly meetings are used not only for
administrative functions but also to bring in speakers to assist the members
with resume writing, expose them to the variety of careers and employment
opportunities available, etc.
