FAQ of Distance Education in CCP

 

 

1) How do I apply to Distance Education program at Community College of Philadelphia?

A. The information for admissions requirements, forms, and deadlines among others is available at http://www.ccp.edu/site/prospective/admissions_process.php.  You may also email your questions to admissions@ccp.edu or call at 215-751-8010. Application instructions and admissions requirements for onsite and online students are similar.

 

2) What is the admissions process for students who are returning after 1 year?

A. A former student who has been away from the College for less than two years has the similar process for registration as the current student. If the student knows what courses they have to take, they can go to records and registration office and register for their courses. If the student is not sure and need some consultation please call the Academic Advising office at (215) 751-8777 or (215) 751-8778 and make an appointment to see the advisor.

 

3) What is the process for student returning to CCP after two or more years?

A. former student who has been away from the College for two or more years must file a readmission application but need not pay the application fee again. Readmission applications are available at the Admissions Welcome Center (Mint Building, Rm. M1-17), by calling 215-751-8010 or by emailing admissions@ccp.edu. If you would like to submit online readmission form, please go to the website http://www.ccp.edu/site/prospective/readmission.php and click on ‘Apply now’. After submitting the readmission form student will be directed to Academic Advising Department for consultation. Subsequent to advisors satisfaction the student should proceed to register for the classes.

 

4) Is the Distance Education in Community College of Philadelphia, accredited?

A. Yes, Distance Education in Community College of Philadelphia is accredited by Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and by Department of Education, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

 

5) If I take one Online Course in CCP will my current college transfer the credit from CCP?

A. Before taking online course in CCP check with you advisor at the institution at which you are matriculated to see if the courses you wish to transfer in to your degree program will be acceptable. For the list of courses currently offered by Distance Education, please refer to the website www.ccp.edu/de and click on ‘Course info’. In order to be enrolled in the courses offered by the Distance Education program you have to be admitted to Community College of Philadelphia and have consulted with an academic advisor.

 

6) How will I pay for my online classes offered by Distance Education? Will I be eligible for Financial Aid also do you have a payment plan system?

A. There are many options available for financial aid depending upon the eligibility. 7) How do I get my textbooks and other course materials?

A. If you need a text book for your course you can order it online at http://ccp.bkstore.com/bkstore/content and save your time. You can also purchase your books from other online venders like Barnes&Nobles.com and Amazon.com etc.

 

 

 

 

8) How to register for Distance Education Courses?

A. The requirements for registration for online courses are the same as the requirements for on-site courses. The student should contact their respective academic advisor for consultation. Subsequent to advisors satisfaction the student should proceed to register for the classes in similar fashion as they would for on-site class. 9) How would I know when will online class has on-site Meeting, Lab time or Time of chat?

A. Some online courses have required or optional onsite meetings usually the first day of class) at the discretion of the instructor. Other online courses are completely campus-free, and all communication is online. To check if your course requires an onsite meeting, please go to www.ccp.edu/de click on ‘Course Info’ and read Meetings remarks for the course. If you miss a scheduled first class meeting, contact your instructor immediately.

 

10) Where would I find syllabus of the online course?

A. To check the syllabus, go to www.ccp.edu/de and click on ‘Course Info’ locate your course and click on the name of the Instructor. This will give you the list of courses Instructor is teaching then you can click on the course you are registered for and read your syllabus.
