The College has created a variety of room configurations
in response to faculty requests for different types of faculty/student and
student/student interaction. These rooms have different student capacities
and each may not be available on the day and time requested.
Different layouts include:

|
A
typical TEC4 room with individual student workstations.
This room includes a ceiling-mounted digital projector.
|
|
This special configuration is only found in B2-23. This room also contains a
ComWeb system for both video and audio distribution from the instructor’s PC
to all student PCs. Students can watch VHS and DVD video on their workstation
and listen to audio either from the PC or the CD player using supplied
microphone/headsets. This room had been designed for primary use by ESL and
Foreign Language classes.

A small number of “perimeter arrangement” configurations are available and
have a smaller capacity of either 20 or 25 students. Each has a central
conference table allowing students to work either at the PC or in group
arrangements.
These rooms are: B2-02, B2-19,
C3-15, NE223, and NW112.

By
far the most common and most requested classroom layout, these rooms
sometimes have a horizontal aisle across the middle of the room to facilitate
faculty access to individual students. This configuration allows a faculty
member at the front to see a large number of student monitors at one time and
keeps the monitor from obscuring sight lines between student and instructor.

This
“pod” arrangement complements group projects and studio-type instruction by
placing students in groups of four with eye-to-eye contact across the desks.
A small number of these rooms support general instruction as well as specific
requests from Biology and Allied Health sciences. These rooms are W4-27 and
W4-28.
