Distance Education
Several psychology courses can be taken via the internet as distance education courses. These courses include:
- Introduction to Psychology (Psych 101)
- Child Psychology (Psych 201)
- Psychopathology (Psych 205)
- Developmental Psychology (Psych 215)
The distance education courses have several advantages. Students can flexibly schedule the hours when they do work for a class, and do not need to commute to any CCP campus if they have access to a personal computer off campus.
However, distance education courses may not be appropriate for some students. Students are required to have certain basic computer skills, and the ability to work independently. Students must become familiar with the use of the Webstudy program which the college uses to manage all of its distance education courses. Students in distance education courses typically do not have direct contact with the instructor or each other. Contact is made by written communications via the internet. Otherwise, distance courses are very similar to regular courses in their texts, assignments, examinations, and grading criteria.
